Joy Dunsheath, J.P. becomes an executive member of the World Federation of UNA societies (WFUNA)

The 42nd Plenary Assembly of the World Federation of United Nations Associations (WFUNA) was hosted by United Nations Association of the Dominican Republic in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic between 17-21 October 2018. The Plenary Assembly is the supreme organ of the Federation, responsible for setting and pursuing core objectives in support of the United Nations. Each UNA is a valued member of the Federation and is actively encouraged to participate in the Plenary, which will elaborate and adopt WFUNA’s policy positions, conduct elections for the Officers and for members of the Executive Committee, revise the Constitution, consider the audits and the budget.

Joy’s interests have led her to be active at national and international levels within several organisations including: UN Women, where she was a member of the National Committee for 9 years; Graduate Women NZ where she is Past-President of the Wellington Branch; United Nations Association of NZ (UNA NZ) where she has held various national leadership roles; Graduate Women International (GWI); former member of the Hegg Hoffet Fund (Geneva) for assistance to refugee women; Council Member of the Justices of the Peace Association; and a Past-President of the Friends of the New Zealand Portrait Gallery. She is involved with the New Zealand Government Ministry for Women International Caucus. Joy led a Young Shakespeare Company (SGCNZ YSC) UK tour and she promotes debating and public speaking for New Zealanders. Joy has made a significant contribution in the promotion of the United Nations throughout her long and active association with UNA NZ. Achieving the Agenda 2030 is her goal for a future of peace and prosperity. She is fully committed to dedicating herself to work for WFUNA.
