8 June 2017 – New Zealand Nuclear Weapon Free Legislation 30 years on: The Significance of the UN Draft Treaty and to Honour the late Dame Laurie Salas, with guest speaker Professor Ramesh Thakur from the Australian National University. View the programme here. The Seminar was held at Victoria’s University Council Chambers and included Secondary School participants in our Speech Award and they impressed the around 100 present. Wellington UNANZ organised, in association with International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War and Peace and Disarmament Education Trust, a presentation and lunch on 5 December at Parliament's Banquet Hall.
The presentation entitled "Humanitarian Consequesnces of Nuclear Weapons From Oslo to Mexio and Beyond" was addressed by a distinguished line up of speakers.
Dr Paul Hutchison MP and Maryan Street MP welcomed and introduced the speakers:
